Acidanthera in Spain

Acidanthera is a summer flower so fragrant, exotic-looking and lovely that it defies logic. No rare pearl of great price, this summer bloomer is affordable, readily available and practically idiot-proof to grow. READ MORE

Working people frequently ask retired people what
they do to make their days interesting.
Well, for example, the other day, Gail my wife and I
went into town and visited a shop.
When we came out, there was a cop writing out a parking ticket.
We went up to him and I said, 'Come on, man,
how about giving a senior citizen a break?'
He ignored us and continued writing the ticket.
I called him an “a*sehole” . He glared at me and started
writing another ticket for having worn out tires.
So Gail called him a “sh*t head”. He finished the
second ticket and put it on the windshield with the first.
Then he started writing more tickets.
This went on for about 20 minutes.
The more we abused him, the more tickets he wrote.
Just then our bus arrived, and we got on it
and went home.

We try to have a little fun each day now that we're now retired and can't afford that dream home we wanted in The Hondon Valley.

It's important at our age.

Hotel Restaurant

In our restaurant you can enjoy the pleasures of excellent northern European food and nice local wines at moderate prices. The location is set in a beautifully restored wine bodega from the year 1763. Thus making the restaurant also the oldest building in the Hondon-valley.

Most of the food is imported from the Netherlands to maintain the excellent quality we serve. Don't be surprised to go home and think that you had the best steak since a long time.

We organise events inside or outside the restaurant

Government warns of tax rebate phishing scam

TAX authorities in Spain have warned of a series of 'phishing' emails going round purporting to be from them and telling the recipient he or she has a refund due.

These emails, which the tax ministry says look very authentic, ask for the person's bank details to reimburse them overpaid tax for the previous year.

This then allows the sender to empty the victim's account.

Normally, to get a tax refund due, residents have to fill out a form very similar to that which shows on the email.

But the ministry says it only ever returns overpaid tax via strictly-controlled and secure channels, usually by mailing a hard copy of the refund notice in the post from the government's tax collection agency, the Agencia Tributaria.

The ministry of tax will never ask for credit card or debit card details via a form on their website.

They have uncovered the scam as a result of various reports from residents in Spain saying they had received these emails.

Fun stuff

A cat died and went to Heaven. God met her at the gates and said,

"You have been a good cat all these years.

Anything you want is yours for the asking."

The cat thought for a minute and then said "All my life I lived on a farm and slept on hard wooden floors. I would like a real fluffy pillow to sleep on."

God said, "Say no more."
Instantly the cat had a huge fluffy pillow.

A few days later, six mice were killed in an accident and they all went to Heaven together. God met the mice at the gates with the same offer that He made to the cat.

The mice said, "Well, we have had to run all of our lives from cats, dogs, and even people with brooms! If we could just have some little roller skates, we would not have to run again."

God answered,
"It is done." All the mice had beautiful roller skates.

About a week later, God decided to check on the cat. He found her sound asleep on her fluffy pillow.... God gently awakened the cat and asked, "Is everything okay? How have you been doing? Are you happy?"

The cat replied, "Oh, it is WONDERFUL. I have never been so happy in my life. The pillow is so fluffy, and those little 'Meals on Wheels' you have been sending over are delicious."

Great stuff Sly

Keep putting them up

An elderly man in Louisiana had owned a large farm for several years.

He had a large pond in the back. It was properly shaped for swimming, so he fixed it up nice with picnic tables, horseshoe courts, and some apple and peach trees.

One evening the old farmer decided to go down to the pond, as he hadn't been there for a while, and look it over.

He grabbed a five-gallon bucket to bring back some fruit.

As he neared the pond, he heard voices shouting and laughing with glee.

As he came closer, he saw it was a bunch of young women skinny-dipping in his pond.

He made the women aware of his presence and they all went to the deep end.

One of the women shouted to him, 'we're not coming out until you leave!'

The old man frowned, 'I didn't come down here to watch you ladies swim naked or make you get out of the pond naked.'

Holding the bucket up he said,
'I'm here to feed the alligator...'

As I do not know the area of Hondon Valley very well I please need some advice.
I have a friend and her family wishing to visit this area and are looking for a nice,
but very reasonably priced Hotel or B & B for them to stay in. OR accommodation in
the near vicinity of Hondon They are hoping to come over in March/April time.
Could anybody please give me some suggestions, or perhaps even put a link up here?
