CHRISTMAS SPIRIT IS ALIVE IN THE HONDON VALLEY

Dave Stewart, chairman of the Hondon Valley British Legion

This Christmas there will be many happy children in the Hondon Valley. It is so sad that people of Frailes and Hondon need to support many families who are struggling.

Dave Stewart, chairman of the Hondon Valley British Legion had the idea that the children from these families should not miss out this Christmas and invited members to donate a gift for them.

Before their Christmas party the gifts were stacked in the front of the room ready for distribution by the mayors of both villages.

That night at their party the members all enjoyed music and dance by Lime Light Disco to work off the fantastic buffet that the members provided. They joined in singing Christmas songs and laughed at the silly sketches Steve Suffield and his team provided.

Most of all, they all enjoyed the friendship and camaraderie that the Legion provides and there was joy in everyone’s hearts as the President Peter Broadbent stated that this was one of the very few occasions when he could report that no service man had been killed in Afghanistan since the last meeting in November.

How good it would be if this happened more often, and what a fitting start to Christmas.
