A town rebuilt for safety
The 1829 Vega Baja earthquake left barely a building standing in Almoradí. The engineer José Agustín de Larramendi laid out a new town of wide straight streets around a central square.
That calm grid still frames daily life, from the ficus-shaded Plaza de la Constitución and the Church of San Andrés to the Saturday market and the artichoke huerta beyond.
