HOTTEST IN 60 YEARS

After the warmest spring since 1951 the Spanish met office predicts a hotter than usual summer. The first heatwave is expected to hit western Andalucia over the weekend.

Almoradi

I thought it seemed hotter than ever this year and this prooves it. We still love it and you just have to be careful not to be in the direct sunlight too long and have plenty of water on a regular basis.

Torrevieja by Train

Get in, relax and enjoy the most beautiful sights in the town of Torrevieja.

It is a tourist trip by train starting in Paseo de la Libertad and ending at Torre del Moro’s viewpoint.

All along this trip, you may listen to an audio-guide informing about the interesting sites you visit.

It is also possible to get out at any of its stops and wait for the newt train to come over just by using the same ticket.

Route: exit point at Paseo de la Libertad and continues until the Marina Salinas marina port, where first stop takes place to visit floating museums and the monument to the Man of the Sea. Then it keeps on up to the Playa del Cura beach, where another stop is made to take a picture in front of the sea. Next stop is at Playa de los Locos beach and then it goes up to the Torre del Moro’s viewpoint, where you will be able to enjoy the wonderful sights of the Torrevieja’s coastline.

Frequency of trips: every 40 minutes

Price: 3 € an adult, 2 € for children, pensioners or big groups.

Fore more info please call the number 0034 63805806

During the winter, this train will be glazed in order to make it possible to keep on enjoying this trip.

The access of the train has been fitted out for disabled.

The type of tourists demanding this service is quite varied, but during the summer, it is quite common to see Spanish families with children while during the winter we can see English, French or Scandinavian tourists and elderly.

This train can be contracted for stag parties, trips to the Torrevieja’s discos, birthdays and other events.

Torrevieja

Great to know as I wasn´t aware of this type of train was available to Torrevieja. Will be passing this information to all the visitors coming over this year. Thanks Kas

TENNIS UPDATE

Day 6 at Wimbledon the first saturday in the tournament saw all the main contenders go through, Nadal, Federer, Djokovic with only one major shock, soderling being beaten by Tomic. The ladies also had the main players go into the next round, Wosniaki, S.Williams, Sharapova and no6 seed Schiavone was sent packing. Tomorrow they have a day off as its the middle sunday of the tournament. Monday sees Murray v Gasquet which should be a classic, followed by Nadal v Del potro and Federer v Youzney. Both the Williams sisters are also playing on monday.

Almoradi

This year I think it could be Murrays! He is playing really well and seems to be producing confident performances every time. He definately has the experience now to move on and take the title. Come on Murray!!!!!!!!!

Carol! And your opinion on Lottery is?

That's personal choice that does NOT affect other people. Nothing wrong with having a little flutter !!

Commented Carol in La Marina 2011-06-26 07:09:50 UTC

Carol no one denies smoking is a dirty habit, some people enjoy smoking others find it too hard to stop.Odds are you drive a car,Possibly because sometimes you have to, other times because you want to, the fumes that pour out are obnoxious to people walking. I am not saying dont drive your car because it is a filthy habit, but you should try to live and let live

Commented Alan in La Marina 2011-06-26 10:07:08 UTC

I'm all for letting people live and let live so you say, but I strongly object when smokers ruin my evenings out by letting their smoke waft all over myself and other people who are trying to enjoy a meal outside with friends and trying to breath in fresh air !!

Commented Carol in La Marina 2011-06-26 10:52:35 UTC

I must say that I was extremely pleased when the Law was finally past here in Spain for smoking to be completely banned in the bars/restaurants. However, it is such a shame that the ban didn't extend - as originally was suggested - to no smoking allowed within 50 metres of a Venue. I completely agree with Carol - why should one have to put up with smoke when one is trying to enjoy a nice meal outside. I do hope that eventually this 50 metres restriction will also come in to operation, but this is, after all, Spain.....

Commented QueenBee in La Marina 2011-06-26 11:00:29 UTC

This could go on and on,so my last words on the subject is the smoker does not intentionally go out of their way to spoil your eveningand you are right I cant stand people smoking near me while i am eating, because the smell actually spoils the taste of the food,I notice more and more smokers leave the perimeter of places to have a cigarette without upsetting people sitting near by,given time this may turn out to be the norm.but when that happens you may well start smelling the fumes of cars going by your outdoor eating establishments, and breathing in there carsonogenic poison.
You have an option of if to eat inside in clean fresh air conditions or take a chance on eating outside and taking a chance of having some inconsiderate person smoking near you.It was only a few months ago when you didnt even have that choice,as people could smoke inside as well as outside restaurants.Who knows when the laws will change making it illegal to smoke within a certain distance of the perimeters of an eating establishment

I know how to get into the FTP site, but then it gets difficult.

I appreciate your posting.

Hi, I do exactly what you're asking about on an almost daily basis - We can provide step by step help with how to upload files to websites.

If you still need further help, feel free to contact me or visit my website www.sol-computers.es

Richard

Richard do you think you can help me. A friend has copied a lot of information which I will need for the charity work I am doing, onto a CD. I have tried to install it onto my computer, but, I can't even open it up to see the content. Please, please help a geriatric.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2011-06-25 17:14:40 UTC

Hi Eve,

Does the CD that you have load properly? If you go to Computer/My Computer, you will see the CD drives, right click the drive that contains your CD and select Open from the menu.

If you list out some of the filenames you see in the folder, I should be able to help you determine what you need to properly use those files.

Richard

Cheers I will try that. I worked on computers about 1980 when they were massive big things. All this new technology is beyond me. Thanks. I will let you know if it works.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2011-06-25 17:22:56 UTC

Eve,

On a side note we also run a Free PC Clinic every Saturday from 11:00 - 13:00. Please feel free to visit us in Gran Alacant if you're nearby at all - everyone is welcome!

Keep posting in the meantime if you still have troubles, I'll be around.

Hi Richard I have tried doing what you told me. It came up that the CD was in the drive but when I clicked on file it did not show open file so I right clicked and went into properties but still did not get anywhere. If I can't get it sorted this week I will come over to Gran Alacant next Sat and take you up on your offer. Will I just need to bring the Disc.

Hi Richard I think I have sussed out the problem. The lady who is doing the job at the moment has windows 7 I am on XP. Is there anyway of putting this programme onto my computer without having to use the CD everytime as Compatability wizard does not work from new back to old? If there is can you tell me the cost please.

Commented Caroline in La Marina 2011-06-25 18:33:43 UTC

Hi Eve,

I've been away a while, my apologies! Do you know what the extension of the file you are trying to open is? I.e. .doc, .docx, .exe, etc.

If it's a program that requires installation, do you know the name/version of the program?

You should be able to copy the contents of the CD into a folder on your computer, and run from that location to negate the need for using a CD everytime.

Whether you could make it run without using Compatibility Wizard each time is hard to say, the best thing in that situation, as you said previously would be to let me take a look at the problem on a Saturday.

There is no obligation to buy anything, anything that can be fixed relatively easily won't be charged for. At that point I can tell you if it's easy to resolve or give you other options.

Richard

Thanks for all your suggestions. I think from what I can gather that the program is one she has made up herself. I will see her today and get more information. f I come to see you next Saturday, I think it best I bring my tower unit - its only a small one. I have taken your address and phone no and hopefully , a lady I know from Gran Alacant will come in the shop on Thursday and she will probably be able to give me directions to your premises. If not I will ring and ask you on Friday. Thanks once again. Eve
